Travelling along the French canal system to the octagonal fortified town of Neuf-Brisach, which is well worth seeing. You pass the Rhine bridge and are now in Breisgau. At 2 p.m., it is possible to take part in a guided tour of the cellars of the Geldermann private champagne factory under the Breisacher Münsterberg. In a vault dating back to the 15th century, you can learn more about the history and the intricacies of sparkling wine production. Warm clothing is therefore strongly recommended.
Today you will experience the full diversity of the Alsatian Wine Route. In the vine villages of Ribeauvillé, Hunawhir, Riquewihr und Kaysersberg, time seems to have stood still since the Middle Ages. Visit the Diebesturm museum in Riquewihr with the torture chamber, the guard room and the winegrower's house. The 25 m high Dolder tower, the landmark of the city with the Dolder museum, gives you a wide view of the city.
Visit the listed old town with its half-timbered houses, which are dating back to the middle Ages, its canals and its floral city centre. The cobbledstone alleys lead you to the picturesque district of „Little-Venice“. A must for culture lovers is a visit to the Unterlindenmuseum with the world-famous masterpiece „Isenheimer Altar“.
Today the route leads you in the midst of the vineyards via Turckheim to Gunsbach. At the Albert-Schweitzer museum, you should pay a visit to the spirit of the "Grand Docteur", as Albert Schweitzer was called by his patients, before you arrive in the enchanting Munster. After a vintner's snack, you cycle to Eguisheim strengthend. Stroll through the fortress city with its picturesque alleys and flower-adorned half-timbered houses before cycling back to Colmar.
