Dresden - bike rally

Dresden is more than just Semper Opera! There are numerous other sights such as the Dresden Zwinger, the church Frauenkiche, or the residence castle, which can be discovered on this bike tour. This eventful bike rally takes you by bike along the Elbe River, past castles and famous towns such as the Karl-May-town of Radebeul, the porcelain town of Meissen, and the most famous spa and resort town of Bad Schandau in Saxon Switzerland. The trip is rounded off with a ride in the “Lössnitzdackel” a narrow-gauge railroad and the Elbe steamboat. The advantage of the home-based tour is that the suitcases don’t have to be packed during the bike trip! You will return to the hotel daily.

TOUR PROFILE: A relative easy tour, flat to slightly hilly. The route was chosen so that it is mainly on cycle paths and side soars with little traffic.

Individual arrival to Dresden, a city characterized by art, music and theater. Time to explore the city for the first time. Your rental bike is already awaiting you at the hotel.

Along the river Elbe to the Karl-May-city of Radebeul. Here a ride on the lovingly named “ „Lößnitzdackel“ (Lößnitzgrundbahn), a narrow-gauge railroad, is on the program. From Radebeul the tour takes you past vineyards through the Lößnitzgrund to Morizburg. Continue by bike to the magnificent castle and park. Back to Dresden via Friedewald the past the Japanese Palace.

Along the Elbe cycle path past the Bastei and Königsstein Fortress to the spa and resort town of Bad Schandau. In the afternoon another highlight of this cycle tour is on the program: Return to Dresden by Elbe steam boat (or depending on water level, by train!)

Today’s stage takes you past the castles of Scharfenberg and Gauernitz along the Elbe to the porcelain town of Meißen. The cathedral, Albrechtsburg castle and the porcelain manufactory are among the sights worth seeing. On the opposite shore side you return to Dresden.

Past the Loschwitz bridge, colloquially known as the „Blue Wonder“, to nearby Pillnitz. A visit to the palace and park is included before returning to the starting point.

The last day of the trip is perfect for exploring the city. How about an individual hop-on / hop-off city tour to explore the numerous sights such as the Zwinger, the Frauenkirche or one of the museums. Let the trip come to a leisurely end before you have to return home again.

You will stay at the Hotel Maritim, a 4-star superior hotel in a picturesque and quiet location on the southern bank of the Elbe, around 10 minutes’ walk from the Sempera Opera house and the old town. With restaurant, bar, wellness area with pool and fitness room. Finnish sauna, steam bath, sanarium and massage are available for a fee.

Local taxes are to be paid directly on site (approx. € 3,- per person / night). When booking half board (5x): 3 –course menu or dinner buffet (1x outside the hotel)

Parking: Hotel underground parking garage for € 17,-/night (to be paid on spot, no reservation). Or nearby in side streets (free of charge)
