Chiemgau bike tour

Mountain dreams, alpenglow, lake landscapes (Waginger See, Chiemsee, Königssee), culinary delicacies – all of this and much more awaits you on a cycling tour in probably the loveliest spot in Bavaria and you will soon see why the Chiemgau is also called „Bavaria’s smile“. The Mozart city Salzburg awaits you with numerous of sights!

Tour profile: 
The tour is mostly easy to cycle, but some parts of this route is hilly. You will bike on bike paths and field paths and only on few parts on busy roads. Total length: approx. 239 – 251 km

Individual arrival to Salzburg.

You first cycle a short section along the river Salzach. At Laufen you then travel westwards until you reach the Waginger See, the warmest lake in Upper Bavaria. Enjoy the picturesque region with the view of the beautiful green-blue shimmering water.

Today you will soon arrive at the Lake Chiemsee, the famous “Bavarian Sea”. You can spend a relaxed afternoon at the lake with the view of the Chiemgauer Alps.

On today’s cycling tour you will discover the Chiemsee with all its facets. Enjoy a ship ride from Prien / Stock to Herreninsel (incl., but without your bike)

With the appealing pre-alpine landscape you cycle through fragrant forests, past juicy meadows and rustic farms via Siegsdorf to the climatic spa Inzell with ist well-known Inzeller Moor (nature reserve). 

Via Schneitzelreuth and along the river Saalach you will reach Bad Reichenhall, which became known through salt production across the borders. Many comfortable places and idyllic parks invite you to stay and linger. You then carry on the Berchtesgaden, where the imposing panorama of the Watzmann Mountains rises high above the city. 

Today you can take a side trip to Lake Königssee with the well-known pilgrimage church St. Bartholomä (Berchtesgaden – Königssee Lake – Berchtesgaden, approx. 12 km in total). Electric boats glide along the emerald green water in the middle of a rugged rocky landscape and you can hear the lake Königssee Echo! You will also soon arrive back in the Mozart city Salzburg.

The rental bikes ( 21-gear touring bikes with) are equipped with 1 pannier. The e-bike is also equipped with a pannier.
