Starting in Bavaria you cycle along the majestic river passing romantic castles, picturesque towns, cozy villages and sprawling vineyards. You will visit cultural sites such as Austria’s biggest Benedictine Abbey "Stift Melk" and the famous ruin in Dürnstein, where the English king Richard Lion Heart was imprisoned. Vienna will impress you immediately with its grandness! This capital city whose glorious history and old roots as a monarchy reveal themselves around every corner is filled with treasures. You will stay in the top hotels in each overnight stop along the way, primarily luxury 4- and 5- star hotels in town centers. Each hotel has its own history and will take you into the wonderful world of Austrians gracious culture and tradition.
TOUR PROFILE: The cycling path is completely paved from one end to the other, flat, almost always directly along the riverbank and is also very suitable for beginners and children.
Individual arrival. Use the remaining time for a city tour: go for a walk through the picturesque old part of town. Between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. bike hand over – for late arrivals on the next morning.
The Upper Danube Valley with its steep and wooded slopes is almost untouched and idyllic. You continue on through the impressive Danube loop, where the river makes an about turn of 180 degrees. Do not miss the trappist monastery of Engelszell which is well known for its homemade liquers.
After a totally relaxing night you cycle on to the picturesque town of Aschach and continue along the bike path until the Upper Austrian Capital Linz, where you spend the night. Enjoy Linz with it’s lovely old city center and high-contrast culture.
After having a strengthening breakfast, you continue through the soft Danube meadows of “Machland” until you reach Ardagger. In Enns you may visit the main square with its 60 m high tower built in the 16th century!
Starting the day by biking through the “Strudengau” region until you reach the baroque town of Grein where you can visit the oldest theatre in Austria. You cycle on until Melk. You will already catch a glimpse of the imposing monastery of Melk from a far.
Today’s tour will enchant you. You cycle through the UNESCO World Heritage region Wachau which is the heart of Austrian viniculture. Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of this region to the full until you reach the historical town of Dürnstein.
Leaving the vineyards behind you, you cycle through the expanse of the “Tullnerfeld” at a leisurely pace. You arrive at the roman town Tulln in the afternoon. Enjoy this neat and nice small city while you go for a vespertine walk.
Out of Tulln you come closer to Vienna. As soon as you can see the edge of the Vienna Woods (Wiener Wald) and it’s rolling foothills, look and you will find the castle of Greifenstein and the sharply pointed spires of the Klosterneuburg monastery. Just after Klosterneuburg, you have reached the Austrian capital city and city of Waltz, Vienna, a metropolis with a heart full of charm!
Before leaving Vienna, make sure to visit the famous Naschmarkt (international foods/goods) and stop by the well-known leisure park “Prater”. Extension at Vienna or train ride back to Passau (Season 1+2) or comfortable by bus (season 3).
You will stay in chosen luxury 4**** and 5***** hotels.

21 gear bike (optional ladies or gents model), E-Bikes, children’s bikes, children E- bikes from 9 years up, specialized equipment for children upon request. All bikes are equipped with a pannier and odometer (except E- bike).
A rental bike liability exclusion can be booked for an additional charge:
€ 19,- per touring bike
€ 45,- per e-bike
In principle, every traveller is liable for damage and theft. When booking the liability exclusion, we assume liability so that no financial responsibility has to be borne in the event of loss or damage to the rental bike (if properly used and secured). The only exceptions are lost keys, batteries and chargers of e-bikes as well as damage caused by intent or gross negligence.
Note: In Austria a helmet is compulsory for children up to 12 years!
Local tax: payable on spot (approx. € 1,00 – 2,50 € per person/night)
