Bike tour along the Lake Garda via Verona to Venice

An extraordinary cycle route will let you discover unique landscapes, art cities and the largest European thermal district. From then superb Dolomites, part of the UNESCO world heritage list, you will start cycling along the river Adige valley, crossroads between people and cultures. Heading south you will reach the palm lined shores of Garda Lake and then romantic Verona, the town of Romeo and Juliet. In Vicenza you will be fascinated by the architectural genius of Palladio, who made the town his personal showcase. Further on you will reach the Euganean Hills and their renowned thermal district, the largest in Europe. Beautiful Padua, cradle of arts, will open the way to the Venetian lagoon, where the timeless fascination of Venice has lured passersby for centuries (and still does).

TOUR PROFILE: This tour is easy to accomplish. There are only few hilly sections with short ascents. You cycle on low-traffic side roads or cycle paths. In case of bad weather, you can also travel by train. The 4-hour boat trip across Lake Garda is included in the price, but the train transfers during the Verona-Vicenza stage are not included.


Tour description:

DAY 1: ARRIVAL TO BOLZANO

The bilingual city of Bolzano is famous as an economic and tourist center and represents a historical and cultural link between Italy and Germany. Bolzano awaits you with some places of interest such as the old town with shops, cafés and restaurants, the Walther place with the Walther-von-der-Vogelweide statue and many other. Perhaps there will be enough time for a stroll through the city after your arrival, before on the next day the bike tour begins.

DAY 2: BOLZANO - TRENTO (APPROX. 65 / 70 KM)

Today you cycle along the banks of the river Adige, passing fruit gardens, vineyards and the villages of Ora, Egna and Salorno. On the dam you cycle to Trento. To shorten the stages you can take the train in several stations.

DAY 3: TRENTO - DESENZANO / PESCHIERA (APPROX. 50 KM + BOAT TRIP)

Continue along the Adige river to reach Rovereto and Mori. From here you cycle westwards to Lake Garda. After a short climb and a relaxing descent you arrive at Riva. Take the boat to southern tip of the lake. It's a 4 hour boat trip.

DAY 4: DESENZANO / PESCHIERA - VERONA (APPROX. 35 / 60 KM)

Today the bike tour takes you to Verona, on the Adige river and one of the most beautiful and important cities of Veneto. The Roman Arena, the church of San Zeno and the house of Romeo and Juliet.

DAY 5: VERONA - VICENZA (APPROX. 75 / 40 KM)

You start in Verona on level floor and then cross the Colli Berici, a hilly region south of Vicenza with a magnificent view over the city. The old town center of Vicenza is characterized by the magnificent buildings of the famous architect Palladio from the 16th century. If the stage is too long, you can take the train in several stations to shorten the stage.

DAY 6: VICENZA - THERMAL REGION PADUA (APPROX. 50 KM)

You leave Vicenza und cycle to the beautiful Villa Rotonda and along river Bacchiglione. Past village Montegalda you will cycle to direction of thermal region Euganean hills, where a calm evening at the Resort of one of the biggest thermal region waits for you.

DAY 7: THERMAL REGION PADUA - MESTRE / VENICE (APPROX. 55 KM)

Along the bicycle path you will cycle past the university city Padua, which is rich of Art and history. Along channel de Piovego you will reach Stra and further along the Brenta river you will past the famous mansion of venetian nobility (Villa Pisani, Villa Malcontenta, Villa Widmann), before you will reach Mestre – the mainland of Venice. You can decide whether to stay in Venice for an extra charge. 

DAY 8: DEPARTURE OR EXTENSION

After breakfast - departure or extension. On request return transfer to Bolzano (reservation required at the booking)

    Accommodation:

    Cat. A: 3*** and 4**** hotels – very comfortable with shower/WC and air conditioning, mostly in the city center. The overnight in thermal region Padua is for both categories in a 4**** wellness hotel with pools.

    Cat. B: 2 and 3*** hotels – small and cosy; with shower/WC, mostly in the city center, some also outside.

    Additional nights
    Additional nights can be booked before or after the trip. Only when arriving on Saturday in Bolzano, 1 additional night can be booked in each named city during the tour.

    Arrival by plane: Bolzano is well connected to the following airports: (approx. 90 – 120 min.) Airports Verona, Innsbruck

    Parking: Bolzano: From € 70,- per week (no reservation possible, to be paid locally)

    Return transfer - min. 2 persons - from Mestre/Venice to Bolzano by minibus on Saturday and Sunday possible:
    Price: € 90,- per person + surcharge for own bike € 30,-. In period 07.05.-10.09.2024 also possible on Tuesday! Limited availability! Reservation of the transfer only possible together with the booking.
