Salzburg, the city of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and also known for Trapp Family, is the starting point of our bicycle journey through Salzburger lake area and the Salzkammergut. The home of the Salzburger Festspiele invites the visitor to a stroll along its river Salzach and through the old part of town. You experience the echoes of the last centuries in its many historical places of interest. The charming hilly landscape around Salzburg, with its moors and numerous lakes with water of potable quality, will accompany you for the week of your trip. This tour is a delight for all sense and you will ask yourself: In which lake will I have a swim today again after the bike tour?
These variant is similar as Basic tour, but it is extended via lake Holzöstersee. It doesn't leads to lake Traunsee, because the abbreviation is via Weißenbachtal, Bad Ischl and further on to lake Wolfgangsee. This variant is without any boat and train rides! The tour lasts 7 days and 6 nights and is a great variant if you want to do a short trip.

TOUR PROFILE:
You cycle out of the Mozart City on flat bicycle paths along the river Salzach. The rest of the route between the lakes is slightly hilly. The majority of the tour consists of bicycle paths and side roads.
Individual arrival to the Mozart City in your first hotel, tour information. We recommend using the time for a city walk, after all, there's much to discover in Salzburg.
The tour takes you through the quiet area to the Ibmer Moor, one of Central Europe’s most beautiful moors, to Holzöster/Dorfibm.
From Holzöster / Dorfibm to Augustiner abbey Michaelbeuern, to Trumer Lakes (Obertrumersee, Mattsee, Grabensee) and further on to Wallersee. Here lived the famous writers surch as Carl Zuckmayer and Stefan Zweig.
From your hotel you travel by bike across the European Nature Reserve “Wenger Moor” to Neumarkt and on to Irrsee, in the Salzkammergut you continue to Mondsee with its castle and the Benedictine monastery.
This stage starts in Mondsee / Attersee and leads you via Weißenbachtal to the imperial city Bad Ischl, where you can discover the Kaiservilla, Leharvilla and Trinkhalle or enjoy delicacies from the pastry shop. Then continue your bike trip along the river Ischler Ache to the Wolfgangsee.
During today’s stage you cycle on the Ischlertrasse. The route takes you along the lake shore to St. Gilgen, the birthplace of Mozart’s sister Nannerl. After a thrilling downhill ride to Scharfling you continue along Mondsee through Thalgau and Eugendorf and then on the second part of the Ischlertrasse back to Salzburg.
