Looking for a bike holiday, we came across the homepage of SunBike. We quickly found what we were looking for - the Vuelta de Mallorca seemed to be perfect for us! Mallorca is also very stable in terms of the weather, so you don't have to be afraid of days of rain at this destination. We are casual cyclists who want to take it easy and there should also fit the weather reasonably.
At the end of October we finally started cycling!
We arrived on Sunday, took a taxi to the hotel. The arrival by taxi worked well and brought us quickly and easily to our accommodation. Arrived at the hotel we could check in and move into the room. On this evening we were very much looking forward to the Mallorca bike tour and the bike rental in Mallorca.
The next day war reads! At 09:00 am, the staff of SunBike came to the welcome meeting. We got the travel documents and the ordered bikes. We were positively surprised by the rental bikes. We did not expect such a quality. In addition, the bikes were equipped with bike computer, a paniner and a handlebar bag. As a gift we became a drinking bottle from SunBike.
Now we were well equipped with information and tested the bikes for a short test round. Then it could start with our adventure.
We cycled through the busy area named Arenal along the Playa, following the SunBike signs. Partly the way uphill. Some part of the stage we had to cycle on the main road.
In the afternoon we arrived in Colonia de Sant Jordi and were able to rest our tired legs. The first stage was done - without breakdown.
The next day the stage was from Colonia de Sant Jordi via Cala Santanyi past the Cuevas del Drach, the famous stalactite cave of Mallorca, which you should definitely have seen!
Arriving in Porto Cristo, we could quickly move into our room and relax with a coffee overlooking the harbor.
Well rested the next morning we went to Can Picafort, where we were supposed to spend two nights. Our bike tour took us that day over the city Manacor. There is a market that should not be missed.
Our way led us over the village Petra, which lies approx. on the half of the stage. Via Santa Margalida the bike tour took us to our destination Can Picafort. Not far from the sea was our hotel.
On Thursday we did not have to pack our bags because we returned to the hotel in the evening. This day was scheduled with a Can Picafort bike tour. The tour took us through the nature reserve S'Albufeira, via Pollenca and back to our hotel in Can Picafort. Slowly, our muscles had also recovered from the initial hardships.
An exciting day should be Friday:
Frist we went by bike to Inca, where the meeting point for the bus transfer was. The waiting time we shortened ourselves - how could it be otherwise - with a cup of coffee. The ride up took about half an hour. At Lluc Monastery, a stopover of about an hour was scheduled, during which one should take the opportunity to look at the monastery, before going back to the bus. At the meeting point wegot our bikes back and continue the ride with our bikes. For lunch a Paella was reserved for us in the restaurant Es Turo and could strenghten ourselves for the onward journey.
The stage destination Porto de Soller we reached without much effort and could quickly find our hotel on the promenade.
The last stage began without bike, but with the tram ride from Porto de Soller to the city Soller. From there, the nostalgia train led to Palma. In Soller we met again with the other fellow travelers. Arrived at the train station in Palma, we met our guide and got our bikes back for the last stage. Then we made the sightseeing tour through Palma, including a visit of the cathedral.
Finally we went over the promenade to Arenal to our last overnight stay.
Our Mallorca bike tour went by way too fast. We took a lot of photos and impressions from our bike tour home and we are sure to do this trip again!
Mallorca, we will be back!
